My journey to becoming an author has been a long tortuous one. Every since I was a little girl, I have had a deep love for the written word. But as a teenager I also had a knack for math and science and was always encouraged by my family to pursue it (yes, I was a nerd). J As with everything else in life, it’s easy to like something if you’re good at it, particularly if it has the potential to lead to a successful career, so that’s the path I chose to pursue in life.
However, as much as I may be good at picking up math and science, it’s always been something else that elevated my soul and made my heart happy; a deep love and connection with the world of books and stories. My dad was a poet and I grew up around literature. I learned the power of words at a young age and have been in love ever since.
Stories have always helped me get lost in the pages, letting my imagination soar and becoming one with another world. To me reading fiction is more than entertainment. It is an opportunity to expand your horizons and let your imagination take over. Following the lives of characters, fictional as they may be, can help us imagine and experience lives that can be very different from ours. By reading their stories, hearing their thoughts and feeling their emotions, we are able to connect at a deeper level with the rest of humanity. To me this is incredible.
This love of reading that took root in me as a young child, only blossomed in later years, as I discovered that I love writing as much as I do reading. It is an amazing feeling to put words together that form sentences which make up a story. A story that can make others feel something!
A good story has the power to not only make you get lost in the pages to escape life, but to inspire you, and teach you something you didn’t know. My deepest hope and desire is that my books will be able to do that, even if it is for just one person.
